Mr. Ritesh Tiwari assumes the role of Executive Director, Finance & IT, and Chief Financial Officer at Hindustan Unilever Limited, concurrently holding the position of Vice President, Finance for Unilever, South Asia. Presently based in the UK, he serves as the VP of Finance – Global Performance Management. Commencing his journey with HUL in 1999 as a management trainee after completing his Chartered Accountancy from ICAI, Mr. Tiwari’s purpose-driven leadership, according to Sanjeev Mehta, Chief Managing Director of HUL, has propelled the company’s business to new heights.
Under Mr. Tiwari’s strategic direction, significant initiatives such as navigating through the implications of GST and the integration of GSK Consumer Healthcare have ushered in transformative changes for HUL. Leading teams both within and outside India at Unilever over the past two decades, he has played pivotal roles in the core finance sector and as a business partner to front-end sales, categories, and supply chain.
In his recent role as Vice President, Finance, Global Performance Management for Unilever and CFO for Unilever International, based in the UK, Mr. Tiwari has been credited with driving digital transformation, simplification, and spearheading projects with high business impact. Even amid the challenges posed by the second wave of Covid, HUL reported impressive profit growth of 12% and underlying growth of 9% in the first quarter of the Financial Year 2022.
A global finance leader with diverse experience leading teams across the UK, India, and other Asian markets, Mr. Tiwari is characterized as a future-focused, high-energy, results-oriented business leader driven by his purpose, ‘Reimagine possibilities and bring value with values.’
Before assuming the role of CFO at HUL, Mr. Tiwari held the position of Vice President, Finance – Global Performance Management for Unilever and CFO for Unilever International in London. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in aligning financial and human capital to deliver impactful performance. Additionally, he led strategic scenario planning and response during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing his adept management skills.
Having joined Unilever as a management trainee in 1999, Mr. Tiwari has held various roles in core finance, demand planning, and procurement within India and South Asia. Progressing through leadership roles such as Global Category Finance Director based in the UK, Group Financial Controller of HUL, and Vice President Finance – Global Supply Chain based in Singapore, he adheres to his mantra of ‘delivering in the present while building for the future.’
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Tiwari actively contributes to various industry bodies, holding positions such as President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Independent Director on ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) Board, Chairman of the CFO Council of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), and a member of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) National Committee for CFOs.
